Ensemble ParaΞenon
The Ensemble ParaΞenon develops transcultural musical storytellings, an art form that combines storytelling, traditional and newly composed music with performing arts.
The Ensemble ParaΞenon was founded in 2022 by the German singer Theresa Stenzel and the Greek composer Konstantinos Margaris as a collaborative project between Frankfurt, Germany, and Athens, Greece.
It develops transcultural musical storytellings, an art form that combines storytelling, traditional and newly composed music with performing arts.
Thematically in tune with the times and always with an international cast, the Ensemble ParaΞenon uses aesthetic means to strengthen tolerance and the peaceful coexistence of different cultures.
Under the title ‘ParaΞenon Kids’, the ensemble also produces musical storytellings for children and families, primarily with the hand puppet ANANA. Music and theatre education workshops with children and young people also take place within this framework.
The Ensemble ParaΞenon has been organised as a non-profit association under the name Ensemble Paraxenon e.V. since 2025.
Paraxenon [παράξεν|ο] means ‘strange’ in Greek. At the same time, the word ‘Paraxenon’ is composed of the Greek words ‘para’ and “xenon” and can be translated as ‘beside the stranger’.
