OADE-Garden

Garden for spaces, sounds, images and thoughts in between

‘OADE’ is an acronym for ‘Open Air Distance Exhibition’ and the place where Leon Joskowitz and other residents of Frankfurt, Offenbach and artists from further afield found a small response to the great pandemic in 2020. We, the human participants, were not alone in this. The OADE is a garden. A piece of nature that was in a desolate and unsightly state at the start of 2020. But on that day the sun was shining, and whilst the nation revelled in information, conjecture and speculation about the new virus, we began to tidy up there. It happened naturally that the garden gradually became a place of art. In May 2020, the collective KVTV curated the first Open Air Distance Exhibition. This was followed by OADE II and OADE III.

Since 2024, Theresa Stenzel and Leon Joskowitz have been curating the OADE programme, which comprises workshops, concerts, readings and culinary events.

OADE sees itself as a place in between, where people can meet, make art together, reflect and simply be in the garden.
